Bulk Materials handling product offerings include design and detailing of transfer tower foundations, incline conveyor structures, coarse/bottom ash conveyor structures, feedstock systems, sampling plants and blending of stacked product systems.

This “home grown” opportunity in the Renewable Energy Program is one of Projects and Industrial Engineering’s core product/service offerings:

  • Civil and Structural design and engineering for fixed tilted PV technologies and parabolic trough technology for CSP energy.
  • Geo-technical Investigations coupled with Ground Anchor solutions
  • Site Design Assessment – Following into Site Preparation and Planning into final EPC build of Solar Site
  • Site infrastructure development, including roads, foundation designs, control buildings and sub station construction, and efficient cable trenching systems.
  • Grid connection including capacity assessments, structuring and planning, design of interface to grid.

Renewable Energy Sources

Renewable energy sources are currently in the spot light and the South African Government is addressing this with the procurement of 3 725MW of renewable energy capacity to be delivered between 2014 and 2016 with 1 450MW having been allocated to solar PV projects and 200 MW for CSP projects.

Our Recent projects withing the energy industry include:

  • The Construction of API Separator, Clean Water Recovery Basin, Neutralization Basin and Pipe Sleeper Way at Dedisa Peaking Power Plant.
  • Provided Engineering/ Procurement and construction solution for the civil/ structural works to suit the placement of solar panels in Alberton, Gauteng.
  • Design, detail and construction of the concrete and steel structural work of the Conditioning House in ash handling  at Medupi Power Station.
  • Full Civil and Structural Design of 72.5mw tilted PV Farm in Kalkbult, Northern Cape
  • Detailed design and construction of conveyor structure concrete foundations, the transfer house and a sub station, a modified truck offloading facility and a maintenance slab at Duvha Power Station.
  • Eskom wet coal feasibility study at ten power stations in 2008.
